This is Blinken’s first visit to Vietnam since he became Secretary of State.

The visit aims to promote Vietnam-US ties in the spirit of their Comprehensive Partnership and the 2015 Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam-US relations, and implement proposals made during a phone conversation between Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong and US President Joe Biden in March.

During his visit, Blinken will discuss measures to promote bilateral relations in all fields, particularly the digital economy, the green economy, and climate change, as part of activities to mark the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership.
