US Secretary of State visits Pyongyang
(VOVWORLD) - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo left Washington on Thursday for a two-day meeting in Pyongyang due to begin the same day to negotiate the denuclearization of North Korea.

Mr. Mike Pompeo is scheduled to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his team during this visit. This is a follow-up meeting of the June 12 summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore. The meeting’s results are expected to have a great impact on the denuclearization and peace on the Korean peninsular. Analysts said the US’s publicization of a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ahead of the visit is unprecedented. This is Pompeo’s third trip to North Korea but the first time he has stayed overnight in Pyongyang.
