(VOVworld) - More than 150 Vietnamese and American delegates and experts gathered at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday to discuss smart solutions in Vietnam for developing new energy resources, especially clean and environmentally friendly energy.

Vietnam has great potential for renewable energy, particularly solar and wind power, but domestic and foreign investment attraction in the field is facing many difficulties in capital, policy mechanisms, and high risk areas.

Vietnam has determined that economic development should be sustainable instead of fast at any cost and to proceed with social advancements and environment protection.

Lessons learnt, experiences, suggestions and recommendations at the conference will be useful references for the Vietnamese government to improve policies on promoting renewable and clean energy.

The conference, part of the continuing celebration of the 20-year anniversary of the normalisation of US – Vietnam bilateral relations, was co-organised by the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnam Investment Review, and sponsored by General Electric.
