VBS works to preserve Vietnamese Buddhist values

(VOVWORLD) -More than 1,200 delegates from across Vietnam and abroad will take part in the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) which will open on Tuesday.

Venerable Thich Minh Tien, Deputy Head of the VBS’ Culture Department, told VOV: “We will focus on efforts to preserve Vietnam’s traditional values in pagoda construction, writings, and costumes of Buddhist monks and nuns all over Vietnam”.  

Dang Thi Toi, a Buddhist follower from Sung Phuc pagoda in Hanoi, said:

“It’s my great honor to attend the congress. We are eager to meet Buddhist dignitaries at home and abroad to learn more about loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity”.  

The Congress will adopt amendments to the VBS Charter and elect a new Executive Council.
