At a dialogue with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Jose Vinals said Standard Chartered Bank would increase investment, promote technology transfer, and contribute more to Vietnam’s economy. Vietnam has the opportunity to become one of the world's important factories and participate deeply in the global value chain, he said.

Minister Dien said the Ministry will develop necessary mechanisms to improve Vietnam’s internal economic strength and competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses. The mechanisms will also aid businesses to take advantages of free trade agreements in export and meet the domestic demand.

Dien said Vietnam will also enhance digitalization in all production and trade sectors and advocate sustainable development models. Minister Dien encouraged investors to develop projects suitable to Vietnam’s conditions and industrial development strategy.

The dialogue was held within the framework of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s attendance to UN climate conference COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland and visit to the UK from October 31 to November 3.
