Vietnam accelerates TPP negotiations in US

(VOV) - Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong along with the ambassadors of Japan, Singapore, and Peru joined several Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations with the governors of some US states and the management board of the US National Governors Association.

Cuong informed them about the recent growth of economic and trade ties between Vietnam and the US, pointing out that trade has increased 140% over the past five years. He also mentioned a 200% increase in agriculture and said he hoped more growth will be stimulated as soon as TPP negotiations are concluded. Cuong called on the governors to support ongoing negotiations when the TPP is debated in federal and state legislative sessions, aiming to strengthen regional economic integration, promote development goals, and generate jobs in Vietnam, the US and other TPP members.

Within the framework of the business trip, Cuong and other diplomats met business representatives of the Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce, many of whom are operating in Vietnam.
