Mr. Phuc made the remark at a national teleconference between the Government and 63 provinces and cities nationwide in Hanoi on Friday. The event attended by Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan discussed implementing socio-economic tasks and state budget plans for 2019. Prime Minister Phuc told the conference: “Vietnam will not weigh growth quantity against growth quality but aims to achieve both. The government consistently pursues its three pillars: economy, society, and the environment, while capitalizing on achievements. Vietnam needs to seek new growth momentum, bolster the 4th Industrial Revolution, and inspire the capability of 100 million Vietnamese at home and abroad.”

Addressing the conference, Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong said 2019 is a pivotal year during which Vietnam needs to continue consolidating its macro-economic foundations, controlling inflation, enhancing resilience to abnormal market developments, and effectively developing culture and society. Mr. Trong stressed foreign policy in 2019: “Efforts should be made to effectively implement foreign policy and international integration, consolidate people’s trust, and safeguard security. We must be well prepared for all circumstances to protect our country. Vietnam’s comprehensive strategic partnership with other countries must be deepened and relations with the rest of the world be strengthened. Bilateral and multilateral external activities must be well organized, while Overseas Vietnamese must be created with favorable conditions to contribute to national development.”
