"Vietnam and the World" Dialogue held at WEF 2019

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and WEF President Borge Brende held a dialogue themed “Vietnam and the World” as part the ongoing conference of the WEF 2019 in Davos. This is the first time that the WEF has held a dialogue on Vietnam to promote its development and integration.

In his remarks, WEF President Borge Brende praised the success of the WEF ASEAN 2018 in Vietnam, saying that it reflected ASEAN’s importance and raised Vietnam’s international status.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed optimism about Vietnam’s economic prospects. He said Vietnam’s economy will continue to grow sustainably and inclusively. He cited how the Vietnamese government is developing a National Strategy on Industry 4.0 focusing on adding measures to promote innovation and creativity and develop a vital and dynamic startup ecosystem. He said Vietnam is the first country in Southeast Asia to cooperate with the WEF to set up a Center for Industry 4.0.

Answering WEF President Borge Brende’s question on how Vietnam will surprise the world in the next five years, Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam will maintain its strong pace of development and considers investors’ success to be tantamount to its own. Vietnam is committed to protect legitimate rights of investors to encourage them to invest more in the country’s socio-economic development.

The same day, Prime Minister Phuc met with leaders of major IT groups.
