The move was made in line with the national roadmap on vehicles’ emission standards, which was issued in 2011. According to the VR, all diesel cars manufactured, assembled in or imported into Vietnam must meet the Euro 4 standards before they are allowed to complete safety tests and receive certificates.

Car providers that produce or import diesel cars must complete all necessary administrative procedures, for customs or car safety checks, and put the cars on the market by December 31at the latest. Otherwise, they will have to export the vehicles that fail to meet the standards out of Vietnam.
