Vietnam, Australia boost bilateral ties

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam treasures its strategic partnership with Australia which is growing strongly, said Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu.

During his talks on Thursday with Ms. Katrina Cooper, Deputy Secretary Southeast Asia and Global Partners Group in the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade of Australia and Head of SOM ASEAN, Mr. Vu thanked Australia for providing Vietnam 7.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine and medical supplies which made Australia its second largest vaccine supplier.

The two Ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in multiple areas including security, training, education, and green growth. They exchanged views on the East Sea issue emphasizing that disputes need to be resolved peacefully with respect for international law.

During her visit to Vietnam, Ms. Katrina Cooper paid a courtesy visit to Head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung, worked with Acting Head of the SOM ASEAN Vu Ho, participated in a workshop on Mekong, and met with Vietnamese and Australian businesses.
