Vietnam, Belarus share huge cooperation potential: President

(VOVWORLD) - There’s plenty of scope for Vietnam and Belarus to boost cooperation, President Tran Dai Quang told Belarus’ national TV as he began an official visit to the Eastern European country on Monday.

Mr. Quang stressed that the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement and the Vietnam-Belarus Protocol on motor vehicle manufacturing in Vietnam will create strong momentum for bilateral trade tie. He added that Vietnam is ready to be the bridge linking Eurasian Economic Union countries, including Belarus, with ASEAN.

The same day, Mr. Quang met separately with representatives of the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Association and the Vietnamese community in Belarus. He reaffirmed that overseas Vietnamese are an integral part of the Vietnamese nation and an important resource for national development.

“Belarus is your second homeland. You should do your best to create a stable life and contribute as much as you can to your host nation.  I know you encourage your children to learn Vietnamese as a way to express their love for Vietnam. I hope you will work harder to integrate fully into your host country,” President Quang said.
