Vietnam boosts people’s diplomacy with the Netherlands

(VOVWORLD) - Over the past 48 years, the relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands has made progress with many high-level visits by state leaders of both countries and a relationship raised to a strategic partnership in 2019.

Tran Hoang Khanh Van, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, made the statement at Friday’s ceremony to mark 48 years of bilateral diplomatic relations.

She said in addition to Medical Committee Netherlands-Vietnam, many other Dutch non-governmental organizations continue to offer help for Vietnam in health, education, and poverty reduction.

Ho Chi Minh City is one of the leading localities in Vietnam to implement activities with the Netherlands, especially in climate change adaptation and sustainable agricultural development.

Carel Jacob Johan Richter, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, said that Vietnam is a priority country in the Netherlands’ foreign relations with focus on trade, investment, and sustainable development. The Netherlands remains an important economic partner of Vietnam.
