(VOVworld) - Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh visited California on Wednesday and Thursday in an effort to boost trade with California. One of his stops was the California Chamber of Commerce where he discussed the California -Vietnam economic relationship as well as Vietnam’s support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

After meeting California Governor Jerry Brown and San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee, Ambassador Vinh met Los Angeles Deputy Mayor in charge of economics Kelli Bernard. In these meetings, Vinh said Vietnam attaches great importance to developing ties with US cities. He expressed his delight at growing ties between Ho Chi Minh City and San Francisco over the past 2 decades, noting that this is a bright model for other localities of both nations to follow.

Ambassador Vinh also had talks with members of the California-Asia Business Council and Southern California business leaders at the Port of Los Angeles. They discussed Vietnam’s policies and business and investment environment, opportunities and challenges created by the TPP, and Vietnam’s cooperation priorities in economics, trade, agriculture, high-tech, and education.
