(VOVworld) - Top Vietnamese and Chinese Party leaders made a phone call on Wednesday on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties and the Lunar New Year of the Horse (2014).

Vietnamese Party’s General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the Party, State and people of China on the achievements in their development, and wished them greater success in building socialism imbued with Chinese characteristics.

Chinese Party leader Xi Jinping affirmed that China attached great importance to the traditional friendship and good neighborliness with Vietnam. He highly valued Vietnam’s renewal achievements and briefed Trong on the major contents of the recent third plenum of the Communist Party of China.

Both leaders acknowledged considerable progress in bilateral relations last year, and agreed on measures to maintain and promote their ties in a stable, practical and healthy manner.

Both sides will increase high-level exchanges to share their development experiences and boost cooperation through the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, as well as people-to-people exchanges, primarily for young people.

They agreed to work closely together to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea in line with common understandings and agreements between the two countries’ top leaders.
