Vietnam co-hosts dialogues for sustainable development

(VOVworld)- The Vietnam mission to the UN will continue dialogues with the private sector to promote public-private partnerships in the pursuit of sustainable development goals, the head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, Le Hoai Trung, told businesses and industrial groups at UN headquarters in New York on Monday.

Ambassador Trung also spoke of the establishment of the Vietnam Business Council and the Vietnamese government’s efforts to get the private sector involved in the sustainable development of the national economy as well as farmers’ contributions to improving food security. Meanwhile, representatives from the UN and the Business Action for Sustainable Development highlighted the business community’s efforts in the implementation of development programs at national and world levels. The event, co-organized by BASD and Vietnam, the Netherlands, Benin, and Barbados is part of preparations for the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development, to be held in Rio de Janeiro this June.
