Vietnam continues evacuation of Vietnamese citizens from Libya

(VOVworld) –  Twenty-eight Vietnamese workers are fleeing the spiralling violence in Benghazi, Libya, and are expected to arrive at the Egyptian Salloum border gate late Monday afternoon before flying home, said the Vietnam Embassy in Egypt on Sunday.

These workers have been working through the labour export companies of VINACONEX Trading and Manpower JSC (VINACONEXMEX) and SIMCO Song Da JSC. Early Monday morning, a special Embassy work group arrived in Salloum, approximately 650km from Cairo, to assist in the evacuation of the workers. Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt, Dao Thanh Chung said:
“The current situation in Libya has become very tense and many countries have evacuated their citizens. The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt is taking every step in accordance with the Party, government, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ policies and guidelines to help the Vietnamese citizens return home via Egypt. We have made preparations for their stay in Cairo as well as their flight home”.
The Hyundai Amco Company of the Republic of Korea (RoK) is also in the process of evacuating all 682 of its Vietnamese workers from Libya to Vietnam via Egypt.
