Vietnam contributes to the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings

(VOVworld)- Vietnam contributed proactively to the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Malaysia, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung told reporters on Monday.

Trung said the Vietnamese delegation made effective and responsible contributions to designing the events’ documents which reflect consensus within ASEAN and countries’ concerns. Vietnam contributed to the building of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, the Declaration of the East Asia Summit on maritime cooperation, and the President Statement of the Summit. Vietnam’s contributions at this summit reflected Vietnam’s policies and determination to enhance cooperation with ASEAN. Concerning the East Sea issue, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said Vietnam shared concerns about complicated and serious developments in the East Sea, especially construction activities in the region that have damaged trust, increased tension and negatively impacted peace and security in the region. Vietnam stressed the importance of strengthening measures to build trust and promote preventive diplomacy, strictly abide by the principles of exercising restraint, not using or threatening to use force, and peacefully resolving disputes with respect to international law.

Trung said ASEAN leaders’ signing of the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community 2015 was the most important result of the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings.
