The 55th session of United Nations Human Rights Council concluded in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday. At Thursday’s regular press conference in Hanoi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that Minister Son's speech attracted participants’ attention.

According to the spokesperson, the success stories in ensuring human rights that the FM cited have become bright spots in the still gloomy human rights picture.

“Vietnam's participation in this high-level session aims to continue delivering the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, while demonstrating its role as a responsible member and active contributor to the UN Human Rights Council. This helps enhance Vietnam's prestige and position globally as well as consolidate and boost Vietnam's cooperative relationship with the UN and countries attending the high-level session,” Hang said.

In his speech, Minister Bui Thanh Son wanted to convey to international friends the message that human rights can be best guaranteed when there is peace, stability and respect for international law, where the State puts people at the center of all its policies to ensure comprehensive and sustainable development.
