Regarding the complications in the East Sea caused by China’s illegal placement of an oilrig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone, Mr. Hung said: “We will never back away from the need to defend our sacred sovereignty. We have a glorious history and have defeated many foreign invaders. We are not afraid and will not let the situation get out of our control.”

He said that China’s schemes were dangerous and have negatively impacted regional peace and security and relations between the two countries.
