Vietnam expects to earn 2.8 billion USD from shrimp export
(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s turnover from aquatic exports in November is estimated at 680 million USD, bringing the total export turnover since the beginning of this year to 6 billion USD, an increase of 9% against the same period last year.
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, VASEP, predicts this year Vietnam can earn up to 6.5 billion USD from seafood exports, 5% higher than the previous year. Shrimp-based products saw the biggest increase. In October, shrimp exports earned 2.5 billion USD, accounting for 44% of the national gross revenue of aqua-product exports. S
hrimp exports are expected to reach 2.8 billion USD this year.
Truong Dinh Hoe, VASEP General Secretary, says: "
Shrimp diseases, including Early Mortality Syndrome or EMS, has in many countries, pushed demand up. Vietnam’s production can not fill shortages in other markets. In October, Vietnam earned over 400 million USD. From now to the end of the year is never the peak time, countries have imported sufficient products for year-end consumption, and demand will reduce."
