(VOVworld) – Members of the 14th National Assembly Standing Committee have stressed the need to create favorable conditions for foreign trade activities, which will help Vietnam improve its competitiveness in international integration. They agreed that foreign trade development policy is an effective tool to build trademarks for Vietnamese products, improve their quality and competitiveness, and boost exports.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that, under the 2013 Constitution, only the law can limit the right to freedom of business, but restricting certain imported and exported products means violating this right. So which products are prohibited for imports and exports should be clarified by law in compliance with the Constitution. Ngan said: “The Constitution stipulates that prohibited products should be stated in law instead of in the government’s documents. If the government creates the list, there may be greater flexibility in foreign trade management but transparency is not guaranteed.”

The Committee also worked on the law on property auction.
