Vietnam focuses on human rights education

(VOVworld) - Vietnam is aware of the significance of education, especially human rights education, which has been integrated into academic curriculum, media communications, and community activities in Vietnam, said Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva.

He made a statement at a discussion marking five years since the adoption of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training within the framework of the 33rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). Ambassador Thanh hailed the Declaration for promoting and protecting human rights around the world.

Thanh introduced participants to Vietnam’s plan to organize an international seminar on educating women and girls about human trafficking under the 33rd session on September 27. The initiative is sponsored by several countries and international organizations, including the Philippines, Australia, and the International Organization for Migration.
