Vietnam hopes for a rise in trade, investment with Sweden

(VOVworld)- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc wanted the new Ambassador of Sweden to help boost the two countries’ trade and investment to exceed the current figure of 1.2 billion USD.

Hosting Ambassador Pereric Hogberg in Hanoi on November 3, he said Sweden is currently in 39 th position among countries and territories investing in Vietnam, and expected to welcome more Swedish investors.

The two countries have established reliable political ties and should broaden their cooperation in other fields besides education and training, science and technology, he said.

Ambassador Pereric Hogberg told his host about Swedish businesses’ keen interests in Vietnam, citing car manufacturer Volvo with a plan to open showrooms in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City next month.

He noted that the recent launch of a direct air route between Sweden and Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island will help bolster the two countries’ cooperation.

He said he wishes to receive attention, cooperation and support from the Prime Minister , the Government and relevant agencies to further bilateral cooperation and friendship in the coming time.-
