At a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday on fighting illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, Mr. Quang said that if stronger measures are not taken, Vietnam may draw a red card, which means Vietnamese seafood will be banned from entering Europe.

He emphasized that IUU fishing harms both Vietnam’s seafood export and global image, and pointed a finger at the lack of effective solutions and lax management in some localities.
