Receiving Turkish Ambassador to Vietnam Haldun Tekneci in Hanoi, Minister Son handed over a letter of sympathy with earthquake victims from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He asked the Turkish agencies to continue to create favorable conditions and ensure safety for Vietnamese rescue forces and citizens. As of Friday evening, Vietnamese rescuers had helped Turkey identify 12 locations where earthquake victims were trapped in the rubble, including two sites where there were signs of life.

Ambassador Tekneci said Turkey appreciates Vietnam for sending a rescue team for the first time and an emergency aid of 100,000 USD and considers this a testament to the friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance in difficult times of the two countries. Turkey values relations with Vietnam and will make every effort to contribute to developing bilateral cooperation, he said.

As Vietnam and Turkey are celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, the two sides agreed to increase exchange of delegations at all levels, coordinate in organizing economic and cultural events, and enhance people-to-people exchanges to deepen their friendship and cooperation.
