Vietnam, Japan cement strategic partnership

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam treasures its extensive strategic partnership with Japan and wants to work with Japan to strengthen this relationship, said President Nguyen Xuan Phuc during a meeting with Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives Hosoda Hiroyuki on Monday.

President Phuc, who is in Tokyo to attend a state funeral for late Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, asked Japan to continue providing Official Development Assistance (ODA) and enhance trade and investment cooperation as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges to  help Vietnam build an independent and self-reliant economy with international integration.

Speaker Hiroyuki underlined Vietnam’s role and reiterated his support for boosting bilateral cooperation, particularly in infrastructure development, technology transfer, farm produce export to Japan, recruitment of Vietnamese workers, and ODA provision. Both leaders voiced support for ASEAN.
