(VOVworld)- Japan will provide ODA for Vietnam to build new patrol ships for law enforcement forces. President of the Japanese House of Representatives Committee on Security Eto Akinori was speaking at a meeting with Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh in Hanoi on Monday. Mr. Akinori said Japan will support Vietnam’s national peacekeeping centre with human resources training and development. Mr. Akinori expressed his high expectations for bilateral defense ties. Vinh urged closer cooperation to realize a memorandum of understanding on bilateral defense cooperation and exchange signed in 2011. He also thanked Japan for protesting China’s illegal placement of its oil rig Haiyang- 981 in Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf and said Vietnam wants Japan to continue backing its fight against China’s wrongful acts.
