Nguyen Dinh Cung, Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management, said studying ethnic minority policies of other countries will help Vietnam overhaul its own ethnic policies.

Delegates said Vietnam needs to focus on building national cultural identity, sustainably developing ethnic cultures, and creating development policies for each region and each ethnic group. They discussed the socio-economic development framework for ethnic minority areas in Vietnam for 2016-2020, which focuses on building a sustainable infrastructure system, developing production, trade, services, tourism, science, and technology, and setting policies on poverty elimination, credit, and employment for ethnic minorities.
