(VOVworld) – The Vietnam-Malaysia comprehensive partnership upgraded to strategic partnership is a breakthrough in the development of Vietnam-Malaysia relations since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 1973.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said while meeting with Tan Sri Datatuk Seri Utama Pandikar Amin bin Haji Mulia, Speaker of the Lower House of Malaysian Parliament on Saturday during his visit to Malaysia. The Speaker said he will encourage Malaysian parliamentarians to have more activities to effectively implement the strategic partnership between the two countries.

On the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended a dialogue with members of the ASEAN Business Club and representatives of some major Malaysian economic groups. He highlighted achievements in Vietnam-Malaysia bilateral cooperation over the past 40 years, saying that bilateral ties have become more and more fruitful and deepened of a reliable partnership. The Prime Minister said the Vietnamese government always creates the best possible conditions for Malaysian, ASEAN as well as foreign investors who are seeking business opportunities in Vietnam. 

Prime Minister Dung concluded his visit to Malaysia on Saturday and left for Singapore to attend a ceremony to mark Singapore's 50th Independence Day. Before leaving Malaysia, he met with with Vietnamese embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia. He said that the establishment of strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia is an important milestone in bilateral ties. He asked the embassy staff and Vietnamese representative agencies in Malaysia to implement bilateral cooperative programs to concretize the strategic partnership in order to boost cooperation in economics, trade, investment, and tourism. He said that the Vietnamese community in Malaysia will continue to be united and support each other, contributing to relations between Vietnam and Malysia.
