Vietnam marks International Francophone Day

(VOVworld) – An official celebration ceremony to mark International Francophone Day will be held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 20th. It is expected to welcome Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and Abdou Diouf, Director General of the International Organization of Francophonie (IOF).

Other activities include a ceremony to present honorary and Francophone youth awards, a music concert at the Hanoi Opera House featuring artists from Belgium, Switzerland and Vietnam. The 7th Francophone film festival, which will tour Hanoi, Hue, Vinh, and Ho Chi Minh City will introduce cultural and language diversity to local film fans. Later this week, Hanoi will host a cultural day to mark the event.

 Joining Vietnam in the celebrations will be the IOF Asia-Pacific Office, IOF Hanoi and Francophone embassies, missions, and organizations in Vietnam.
