(VOVworld) - Vietnam shares International Francophone’s noble value and objectives of peace, democracy and cultural diversity for cooperation and development. President Nguyen Thi Doan was speaking at a ceremony to mark International Francophone Day (March 20) in Hanoi on Friday. She said the event aims to strengthen unity among member countries and praise the French language’s role in Vietnam and the Asia Pacific. Ms. Doan said: “Vietnam praises achievements and success made by the French-speaking community and its Secretary General. Vietnam has actively contributed to the community, especially in the promotion of French language in Southeast Asia and the teaching of French for Vietnamese officials. We are actively preparing for the upcoming Francophone Summit  in Senegal”.
Secretary General of the International Francophone Organisation Abdou Diouf praised Vietnam for its contribution to the Francophone bloc and expected more initiatives to promote the role of the grouping internationally.
