He was the first to speak at a discussion held as part of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, between APEC leaders and guests, including Colombian President Gustavo Petro, Fijian President Sitiveni Rabuka, and Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal.

President Thuong called on developed countries and international partners to increase their financial contributions and the sharing of scientific and technological achievements.

He urged them to quickly put the Loss and Damage Fund into use to assist developing and underdeveloped countries in coping with climate change. The global financial system should strengthen its supply of green finance and effectively mobilize its resources from the private sector, Mr. Thuong added.

Earlier, President Thuong met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

He also attended a dialogue between APEC leaders and members of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).
