Mr. Phuc told a forum in Hanoi on Saturday that 33 localities across Vietnam have been involved in organic agriculture with a total area of 70,000 ha.  The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development pledged to soon finalize a decree on organic agriculture.

“We’ll continue to expand production standards like VietGap and GlobalGap to ensure food safety. Other priorities include promoting sustainable and environment-friendly agriculture cultivation to improve productivity and competitiveness of Vietnam’s farm produce,” said Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam.

The global organic agriculture market is growing extensively and is estimated at 80 billion USD.
