In Vietnam, to better manage groundwater exploitation, the Government has promulgated a decree regulating groundwater exploitation, which directs localities to publish a list of areas restricted from groundwater exploitation and apply measures to limit exploitation in areas where groundwater is at risk of pollution, saltwater intrusion, excessive lowering of water levels, and land subsidence.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said the Government has created a project to assess groundwater use and geological structure on which to base a comprehensive solution.
