Vietnam pushes up cashless transactions

(VOVWORLD) - Many targets on digital transformation in the banking sector have been met or surpassed, according a seminar on data connection and smart payment hosted by the State Bank of Vietnam on Friday to mark Cashless Day, June 16.

Participants stressed the need to create a digital banking ecosystem to further promote smart payment. Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai praised the banking sectors’ policies on digital transformation and promoting cashless payment.

“I highly appreciate the close coordination between ministries, sectors and localities and the great contribution of the media in building the habit of cashless payment and raise public awareness of the benefit of cashless transactions,”  he said.

Currently, nearly 75% of Vietnamese adults have bank accounts and the growth of payment via mobile devices and QR code increases 100% annually.
