(VOV) – Vietnam’s Sea and Island Week 2013 will be held early next month in the central province of Ha Tinh.

The aim of the week is to raise people’s awareness about the important role of the sea and islands in national construction and defence, and highlight the value of the ocean to human life. Deputy Head of the Vietnam Administration of Sea and Islands Nguyen Dang Dao told a press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday: "This year, there will be 3 major events: First, the 5^th forum on marine trademarks with the theme being marine sanctuary, and sustainable development of sea and islands resources; second, the 4^th marine economic forum; third, meeting to mark World Environment Day (June5th) and World Oceans Day (June8th). The meeting, which will take place in Thien Cam tourist resort in Ha Tinh province, will be broadcast live on TV on June 8th".

A representative of Ha Tinh province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment said that Vietnam Seas and Island week 2013 is an opportunity to promote the potential for local marine economic development.
