Vietnam set to reduce social vices

(VOVworld) - Vietnam aims to reduce social vices in 2014, with a focus on eliminating drugs and prostitution. This was set out at a conference of the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control held in Hanoi on Friday to review work in 2013 and implement tasks for this year.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed the need to mobilize strength from the whole political system and community to prevent AIDS, drugs, and prostitution. He urged Public Security agencies, the People’s Supreme Procuracy, and People’s Courts at all levels to enhance their work in detecting, prosecuting, and adjudicating violations and cases. He also called on the Ministry of Labors, Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with local departments and sectors to implement drug detoxification projects. Meanwhile, People’s Committees at border areas are urged to effectively implement programs, agreements, and memoranda of understanding on drug prevention and trafficking.
