(VOVworld) – Vietnam wants to be friends with all countries and attaches great importance to relations with its traditional friends, including Slovakia, said Huynh Ngoc Son, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly. At Thursday’s reception for Janna Lassakova, the Deputy Speaker of the National Council of the Slovakia, Son said Vietnam’s National Assembly will do its utmost to boost the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Son added the Vietnamese National Assembly will create the best possible conditions for Slovakian businesses to seek investment opportunities in Vietnam. Both sides agreed to increase high-ranking exchanges between the two Parliaments and parliamentarians to boost mutual trust and understanding and share their experiences in legislative and supervision activities.

The Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan also held a reception for the Slovak delegation. He expressed his delight at recent developments in bilateral ties in politics, economics and trade, emphasizing that Vietnam wants to bolster relations with parties worldwide, including the SMER-SD party. Quan recommended further delegation exchanges to establish official relations, creating a political foundation for bilateral relations.

Also on Thursday, the Slovakian delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai who called for Slovakia’s support in encouraging the European Union to complete negotiations, sign a free trade agreement with Vietnam (EVFTA), and to recognize Vietnam’s market economy status. He said Vietnam is willing to support Slovakia in promoting ties with other ASEAN countries.
