Vietnam, Tanzania enhace multifaceted cooperation

(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang held talks with visiting Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete in Hanoi on Monday. President Sang said that Vietnam always treasured and wanted to expand cooperation with African countries including Tanzania.

President Mrisho Kikwete said Tanzania was willing to be a bridge for Vietnam to enter the African market in general and Eastern Africa in particular. The Tanzanian President hoped that Vietnam would enable Tanzania’s goods to enter Vietnam as well as ASEAN. The two leaders agreed to strengthen their close political relationship through exchanging delegations, boosting people-to-people diplomacy and enhancing cooperation between their major cities in order to increase mutual understanding between the two peoples. They agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation at regional and global forums and contribute to the world’s equality, democracy, peace, stability, cooperation and development. The two Presidents highlighted the importance of ensuring peace, safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea, settling disputes through peaceful means and abiding by international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and the completion of the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.

After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement on maritime transport.

On the same day, at a meeting with the Tanzanian President, who is also President of the Tanzanian Revolutionary Party, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong asked the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields. The two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two Parties to contribute to enhancing bilateral ties.
