Vietnam to formulate National Intellectual Property Program

(VOVworld) – The National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam and the World Intellectual Property Organization held a workshop on the formulation and implementation of national IP strategies in Hanoi on Tuesday. Participants agreed that national IP strategies play an important role in socio-economic development as they promote the use of new technologies and creative products. The purpose of formulating such strategies is to devise a plan to encourage organizations and individuals in the country to jointly create, possess and use research outcomes as well as new initiatives and technologies effectively. Vietnam is drafting its own national IP program with assistance from the World Intellectual Property Organization. The program will focus on a number of issues including IP policy and framework, raising public awareness on the use of brands and copyrights and IP-related law enforcement.
