Vietnam, Turkey discuss bilateral trade promotion

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam-Turkey trade promotion conference was held online from Hanoi on Monday by the ASEAN Secretariat, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Turkish Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Goods Exchange Promotion.

The Vietnamese representatives informed the conference of Vietnam’s investment market, policies, directions, and priorities for cooperation.

Last year, two way trade between VN and Turkey reached 1.9 billion USD, making Vietnam Turkey's second largest partner in Southeast Asia. According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first 5 months of this year, Turkish businesses invested in 34 projects in Vietnam, with a total capital of more than 750 million USD.

Tran Thi Lan Anh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “Although certain achievements have been achieved, the proportion of investment and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Turkey is still very modest compared to the relationship and economic potential of each side. Turkey has a growing industry and is a market with great potential for Vietnamese businesses. Vietnam is also an attractive market for investors as it has participated in many bilateral and multilateral agreements. This is the most favorable time for Vietnamese and Turkish businesses to promote cooperation.”
