Vietnam, Turkey target 4 billion USD in bilateral trade by 2020

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Turkey have seen progress being made in trade and investment cooperation, said National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in her meeting with Nail Olpak, President of Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), on Monday in Istanbul.

The two countries earned 1.5 billion USD from two-way trade in 2017, with target for 4 billion USD by 2020, added Madam Ngan. She hailed DEIK’s co-hosting with Vietnam of the Turkey-Vietnam Business and Investment Forum, adding that the event opened up chances to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of investment and trade.

The forum is expected to attract approximately 160 Turkish businesses. Mr. Nail Olpak said DEIK will send a business delegation to Vietnam in the future to attend a Fashion and Culinary Week. 

Chairwoman Ngan is in Turkey for the third meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments. After the meeting, she will begin an official visit to Turkey.
