Vietnam urges Asia, Europe to be vanguard in realizing 2030 Agenda

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh urged Europe and Asia to continue their leadership in maintaining world peace and stability, promoting dialogue, building trust, eliminating poverty, and upholding international law.

At the 1st plenary session of the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Myanmar on Monday, Minh called on the two continents to be vanguard in realizing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

He noted that APEC leaders, at their recent meetings in Da Nang, pledged to support multilateral trade, promote economic, financial, and social inclusion, and build a vision for APEC after 2020. He said the prospects of finalizing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) next year and the new Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) have provided fresh dynamism for greater regional economic integration.

At the 2nd plenary session on Monday, participants agreed to promote a strong and dynamic partnership between Asia and Europe based on equality and mutual respect and benefits.
