(VOVworld) - Vietnam’s President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Washington today for an official visit at the invitation of US President Barak Obama. Sang was welcomed at Andrews Air force Base  airport by US Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear, representatives of the US State Department and Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Cuong. At a meeting,  President Sang told Vietnamese embassy staff that despite some differences after 18 years of normalized ties, Vietnam-US cooperation has expanded in economics, education, science, national defense, security and external affairs. He said in the future, the active partnership, friendship, multifaceted co-operation and mutual understanding between the two countries will grow. A number of cooperation programs between Vietnam and the US will be implemented at a higher level. The development of the Vietnam-US relationship will require the Vietnamese embassy staff in the US to make greater efforts to help the two countries’ ministries, sectors, agencies and localities increase their cooperation.
