Ty greeted a delegation from the Armed Service Committee of the US House of Representatives, led by Michael Dennis Rogers, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Strategic Forces, saying the visit offers an opportunity to talk frankly about issues of mutual concern and promote cooperation across sectors. Mr. Ty said Vietnam wants to bolster the comprehensive partnership with the US in a practical and efficient way bilaterally, regionally and globally, so both can do more for the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation and prosperity in the region and the world. He said Vietnam and the US have great potential for cooperation and Vietnam wishes to closely work with the US on a number of issues, including non-proliferation of weapons of mass-destruction, fighting terrorism, trans-national crime, food security, energy, and water resources.

Mr. Rogers said that the US always sees Vietnam as a close friend and a reliable partner in the region and the world.
