(VOVworld) – Vietnam wants to boost multi-faceted cooperation with India, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at Friday reception for Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval in Hanoi. PM Dung said Vietnam supports India’s Look East policy and India’s efforts to boost strategic partnership with ASEAN. He proposed both sides enhance cooperation in all fields including politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, and investment. He asked India to support and cooperate with Vietnam in national defense, provide personnel training for Vietnamese air force, navy, and intelligence sector, and to help Vietnam in the fight against terrorism, high-tech crimes, and cyber security. Kumar Doval said India attaches special importance to ensuring navigation freedom, noting that India will not accept any unilateral acts to change the status quo. He added that all disputes should be settled through peaceful measures and in accordance with international law.

Later Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh met with Ajit Kumar Doval where both leaders agreed to reach a two-way trade turnover of 15 billion USD by 2020. Deputy PM Minh asked India to continue support Vietnam and ASEAN’s viewpoint regarding the East Sea issue. He reiterated Vietnam’s support for Indian companies to explore and exploit oil and gas in Vietnam’s sea.
