The statement was delivered during a visit to the US last week by a delegation led by Ngo Le Van, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations.

The delegation met with representatives of left-wing organizations and movements, including the American Communist Party, to discuss Vietnam-US relations developments since the normalization of diplomatic ties in 1995 and the establishment of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last year.

The US side said they were deeply impressed by what Vietnam has achieved on the path to building socialism during nearly 40 years of renewal, both domestically and internationally, pledging further efforts to contribute to the development of bilateral ties.

The two sides agreed to continue information exchanges, boost cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the American Communist Party and between Vietnamese and American people's organizations to strengthen understanding and friendship between the two countries.
