Acclaimed filmmaker Johnnie To of Hong Kong (China) was named  president of the panel at the festival, which also included Japanese director Ryuichi Hiroki, Singaporean film producer Eric Khoo, Malaysian actor Zizan Razak, and Vietnamese film producer Truong Ngoc Anh.

10 films from India, Spain, Ukraine, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong (China), Turkey, Japan, and hosts Malaysia competed at this year's festival.

The MIFFest showcases Malaysian and international films. Accompanying the event is the Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA), which recognises filmmakers for their performances throughout the year. The MIFFest and MGGA encourage passionate filmmakers from around the world to promote their innovations in the filmmaking industry.

Truong Ngoc Anh, 47, is an actress, fashion model, film producer, and entrepreneur from Hanoi. She was named Best Actress at the Mai Vang (Golden Apricot) award, the Vietnamese equivalent to an Oscar for her role in Áo Lụa Hà Đông (The White Silk Dress) in 2006.

Ngoc Anh was awarded Most Photogenic at the International Model Search of Asia in 1995 and was named the winner of the Miss International Model pageant held in Cairo, Egypt, in 1998.

She has been invited to judge at many global events, including the Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) in the United States, the 58th Asia-Pacific Film Festival, and the Panam Anim animated film festival in France.
