Vietnamese, Belgian Prime Ministers hold talks

(VOVworld)- The new Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, on his first day in office on Monday, hosted a welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and a senior Vietnamese delegation. The two Prime Ministers held talks discussing ways to promote bilateral friendship and cooperation in various fields. They reviewed the development of bilateral ties over the past 40 years highlighting progresses in economics, trade, investment and development assistance cooperation.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to maintain high-ranking exchanges and strengthen coordination at multilateral forums including the UN, the Asia-Europe Meeting, the ASEAN-EU cooperation and the Francophone region. They pledged to create the best conditions for their businesses to increase cooperation in seaports, logistic services, transportation, green and high technology, aviation, and aerospace. The two sides agreed to maintain the meetings of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation to map out economic orientations for both sides.

They praised the important role of the Joint Committee for Development Cooperation and stressed the need to work out cooperation directions for the post 2015 period. The two Prime Ministers discussed regional and global issues relating to cooperation and security in the Asia Pacific region as well as the importance of peace, stability, security, safety and the freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.

At the end of the talks, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the hand over of the investment license to the Rent-a-port Company’s investment in Cat Hai island district, Hai Phong city. They also witnessed the signing of a credit agreement that the Belgian government granted Vietnam within the small satellite project VNREDSAT 1B. Following the talks, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held an important meeting with the EC President Manuel Barosso at the EC headquarter in Brussels.
