According to Mr. Nghi, who is Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, no matter where they are, OVs always look to the Fatherland, particularly during the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic when the solidarity and mutual affection and support among Vietnamese people have shined more than ever.

As soon as the pandemic broke out, they have donated and sent home hundreds of thousands of N95 masks and thousands of tons of medical equipment to help people in Vietnam.

In 2020 and 2021, OVs contributed about 5.3 million USD to the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund and the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund.

More particularly, many Vietnamese doctors in the US and some other countries have voluntarily registered to return home to join the local frontline forces in the fight against the pandemic.

Lots of prestigious and influential Vietnamese associations and individuals abroad have effectively supported Vietnamese representative agencies to access vaccine sources.

Ambassador Nghi said he hopes that Vietnamese people abroad will always keep their enthusiasm and spirit towards the fatherland to turn Vietnam into a more prosperous country.
